Leeds United- Finished 9th in the 2020/2021 Season on 59 points.
Whenever Marcelo Bielsa's Leeds took to the pitch last season it was always a spectacle to behold. Often it was high intensity and gripping affairs but given Bielsa's ideology it sometimes ended in a beautiful disaster, the 6-2 defeat to Manchester United coming to mind. Even there first game of last season away to the then champions Liverpool was pulsating and portrayed to us the tactical prowess Leeds adopt. Leeds enjoyed a stunning long-awaited return to the Premier League achieving impressive results over Spurs, Everton, and eventual champions Manchester City. They also held an extraordinary record of going unbeaten at home against the so-called 'Big Six'. Leeds took every football lover by storm last year and many will be hoping they can go one step further this campaign. This is high expectation of Lees given they have only been in the league for one season, having been away from England's premier division for 16 years. However, Bielsa is more that capable to continue Leeds upsurge and he will look to balance and tune his high emphasis on attacking in the coming weeks. First up for Leeds is Manchester United at home, the same fixture their frailties were exposed last season so Bielsa will look to use this as a platform to patching up his side's style of play. As for all, the return of fans will be of paramount difference to Leeds' turn of affairs, however the dynamic is different, given their returning fans only now get to experience their side's return to the Premier League given last season's desolate grounds. In terms of recruitment, Leeds have completed the permanent signing of Jack Harrison from Manchester City, who spent the last three seasons on loan. They have also replaced the departed Ezgjan Alioski with Barcelona's Junior Firpo, whose move to Catalans did not work out but under Bielsa he will be hoping to re-ignite his potential. A hugely promising campaign awaits the extravagant Leeds United with the big question being whether or not they can match the excitement they displayed last year and how will they cope with opposition managers who now have a better understanding of the threat they pose.
