Brighton- Finished 16th in 2020/2021 Season on 41 points.
Brighton arguably survived relegation in comfortable fashion last campaign, finishing 13 points ahead of Fulham in 18th. Brighton are an unfulfilling package in the respect that their performances and results often never reflect their final standing in the table at the end of the season. Brighton put in some stellar shifts against Liverpool away and City and Spurs at home, winning all three, but in all the games they lost against the so-called 'Big Six', they matched their tempo and treated us to a brilliant game of football. But in their own crunch games against teams down their end of the table is why Brighton's 16th place finish does not mirror them on the pitch. In all their games against the sides who went down, Brighton picked up just four points, drawing four and losing twice. These were the results that partially contributed to Brighton being dragged into a relegation dogfight. Their results against sides in the top half of the table are to commended, but Graham Potter will be hoping that next season his side can catch some consistency and balance their performances across their 38 fixtures. In terms of their business in the transfer window, the big news is Ben White's departure to Arsenal for £50 million. Other than that, their squad is partially unchanged, with key players such as Leandro Trossard, Neil Maupay and Lewis Dunk remaining at the club, but squad players such as Davy Propper, Bernardo and Mat Ryan having all departed. Reinforcements have arrived in midfielder Enock Mwepu from Salzburg and goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen from Ajax, with Potter identifying them as clear replacements for the departed Propper and Ryan. One transfer development they will most likely address before the end of the window is the funds received from the sale of White, with the £50 million they received for him, they will surely continue to strengthen their squad before the window closes on the 31st of August. Brighton are definitely one to keep an eye on this season.
