Brentford- Promoted from the Championship via the Playoffs, beating Swansea 2-0.
When Brentford missed out on promotion to the Premier League in 2019/2020 season many football lovers and pundits were left slightly disappointed given the sheer excitement and energy their side brought onto the pitch. They finished that season in third, scoring a stunning 80 goals, the highest in the league. Everyone marveled at their front three of Ollie Watkins, Bryan Mbuemo and Said Benrahma, who absolutely tore through the defenses of the Championships and who many wanted to see in the Premier League. Many thought their potential might diminish when Watkins moved to Villa and Benrahma went to West Ham, but Thomas Frank rallied his promising side and brought in Ivan Toney from Peterborough United to bolster his attack once more. Toney truly delivered, scoring a record 30 goals, equaling Glenn Murray's tally for Crystal Palace in 2013. Brentford are yet to sign anyone major in the transfer window but Frank will be confident with the side he already as at his disposal and will hope the club can live up to the hype on their maiden voyage into the Premier League. The only real noticeable recruitment is Frank Onyeka from FC Midtjylland, who is a Nigerian international and who played at Anfield against Liverpool in last season's Champions League campaign. You get that sense that Brentford will be widely adored by football lovers next season but given the expectation ahead of them, many fans could come to bitter them as the season progresses.
